What am I working on this week?

I’ve had a bit of a week off this week as my daughter is visiting from Cairns, so writing-wise I haven’t done a lot. But I have been thinking about what I need to write, and writing up a plan for the work I need to get done over the summer, so that’s something.

What’s inspiring me this week?

This week has been a text-book example of the “swings and roundabouts” nature of being a writer. I didn’t get shortlisted for something I thought I had a good chance at, which was disappointing, and I also missed out on the fellowship I applied for a couple of months ago. But on the up-side, I was invited to contribute a story to an anthology to be published next year by a fantastic Europe-based small press,  I had a reprint accepted into another anthology, and have had some excellent news regarding a potential pathway forward for one of my full-length manuscripts. The positive news I’ve received has given me great direction for my 2017 writing schedule.

What part of my project am I avoiding?

I haven’t been avoiding writing this week so much as taking a short break from it while my daughter is visiting. But she’s here for 3 weeks, so I’m going to have to be a bit more disciplined about sitting down to write at specific times so I don’t fall behind. My writing tasks are building up, and I don’t want my to-do list to become overwhelming.
