I’ve joined Peter M. Ball’s Sunday Circle to help keep my writing on track. Follow along here or join in the fun over at Peter’s blog, Man Versus Bear.
What am I working on this week?
Still working away on the first draft of Rise of the Rat Generation. I’m on track to have the first draft finished by the end of November. Words are flowing well for this project, although it’s a bit all over the place, but that’s okay because I like my characters to surprise me: I’m most definitely a pantser. I’ve also been working on my fellowship application, which in turn has fed into ideas for my WIP, so that’s worked out well.
What’s inspiring me this week?
I’m currently half-way through Angela Slatter’s Vigil and to say I’m loving it is an understatement. One of the aspects of the novel I’m finding most appealing is what she’s done with the setting of Brisbane. Her mix of reality and imagination in creating the Brisbane of Verity Fassbinder’s world works so well. I’m limiting myself to reading a chapter a night because I know I’m going to be sad when I finish reading it.
What part of my project am I avoiding?
I’m not avoiding any writing projects. Instead I’m being more productive by avoiding TV. Though I refuse to miss a weekend episode of If You Are The One. Meng Fei rocks!
