I’ve joined Peter M. Ball’s Sunday Circle to help keep my writing on track. Follow along here or join in the fun over at Peter’s blog, Man Versus Bear.
What am I working on this week?
This week I got started on one fellowship application and decided not to apply for the other. They both have a closing date of the end of this month, and I only have enough time to do one application justice so I had to prioritise. I’m continuing work on Rise of the Rat Generation and it’s going well (and by that I mean I’m reaching my word count target – the geniuses are being kind!). I’m on track to finish the first draft by the end of November. It’ll be messy but I’m fine with that.
What’s inspiring me this week?
Mushrooms and mycelium! I watched Paul Stamets’ TED video Six ways mushrooms can save the world a few weeks ago and it’s still fascinating me. So much is being learned now in the western world about how the natural environment communicates, and I love to incorporate those ideas into my fiction.
What part of my project am I avoiding?
No avoidance issues this week, everything is on track.
